The Society of Radiographers recently held their annual South West student study day in Taunton, which was sponsored by Xograph Healthcare the leading independent medical equipment supplier to the UK and Ireland.
The day was filled with a series of presentations which were both educative and informative and designed to assist and support student radiographers who are at the start of their career. It was also an excellent opportunity to network and meet with fellow students and professionals within the field.
The speakers and topics at the event were lively and engaging and offered radiography perspectives from not only within radiology departments but from areas such as, the military, research and the independent sector. The student’s also left with CV and interview skills and advice from a newly qualified radiographer.
Linda Bedford, Chair of the South West Regional Committee said, "This was our second SW student conference organised by the regional committee and the day was a great success. Students are the future of the profession, so it is important to engage with them and demonstrate an active committee in order to promote the role of the Society of Radiographers. We budget for this event with the aid of sponsorship towards costs from companies such as Xograph Healthcare; students are able to see commitment across the board towards their continued development.
The feedback from the students on the travel arrangements, venue and speakers was very positive, with particular reference to a presentation given by a radiographer in the Armed forces having just returned from active duty".
